Make and mend festival Ormesby hall 2021

Make and Mend festival is a well needed craft event in the North East #MMFest21

Make and Mend was just one of the best events i’ve attended recently and myself and sister in law who runs beautiful pattern company (@bloomin_gorgeous-patterns) came along with me to enjoy the day. From 10am-5pm the stunning grounds of Ormesby hall Middlesbrough was transformed into a crafter’s paradise with workshops in soap making, candle making, terrarium creating, watercolour painting and so much more. Not only was the actual festival itself uplifting in the sense it was a colourful wonder to the senses with flags and giant embroidery stands and photo opportunities everywhere, but it was just a tonic after having been in lockdown and not having access to such needed activities which are so beneficial for positivity and wellbeing. I will confess I am not a huge crafter but I am a creative in other ways, and taking a day out just for myself is something I will be trying to do more of. I took part in the candle making and terrarium workshop and they were both so much fun to do.

The grounds were dressed beautifully and I loved taking time out for myself!

The Plant workshop was one of the companies I loved working with. They have stores all over the North East including Billingham, Northallerton and Fenwicks Newcastle. They have been supplying the most amazing plants and advice for caring for them ever since lockdown. The workshop was amazing and the terrarium I got to take home was brilliant quality and the tutorial was really informative.

Beautiful prints from Katie Burns. The craft stalls were a great addition to the day.
Loved the bright colours everywhere amazing!

Also big shout out to my friend Rachel The Culture Vulture who is an outstanding culture champion who helps make these amazing events happen for our region. (@theculturevulturene) For the price of a ticket including workshops it was great value for money and created such a brilliant day with a supportive community. A lady I spoke to had come along on her own and we got chatting so it was a great way to help make like minded friends too.

The Elephant vegan bakery was offering some amazing treats and I loved the red velvet cookie!

Yummy vegan sweet treats!
Terrarium making was the best!
