Awful auntie darlington hippodrome 11/7/24

Awful Auntie is the third David Walliams production we have seen and it certainly wasn’t for the faint hearted!

Life is hard when you are alone, orphaned and wake up from being in a coma. Oh, and your auntie is trying to kill you! (Yes this is marketed for kids!)

Only Walliams could get away with such a dastardly plot which kids love because it pushes the boundaries a little and unnerves the grown ups!

The show has strong lead performers who are very engaging and fun from the start. The set design and creative changes of scenery really add depth and dimension to the plot and leaves an enthusiastic cast plenty of space for development.

Clearly lots of thought has gone into this entertaining and fun show which will have you screeching with laughter especially in the practical joke scene! (If you know you know!)

Fans of other Walliams productions won’t be disappointed in this one and the cast really told the story with all the energy and charisma perfectly aimed at the young audience.

I would say guideline of maybe 9/10+ for this one personally i thought there were some darker themes very young ones might be unsure of.

We had a great time, thanks to our friends at the Hippodrome for inviting us to check it out!

The show runs until 14th July so grab a ticket if you can!

(gifted tickets in exchange for a review!)
