Jamie is a young boy who wants to go places but is stuck in a small town with small town attitudes. Together with the support of his wonderful mum and her best friend Ray he goes on a journey of discovery and realises he can follow his dreams with a little help from friend Pritti and a little sparkle of self believe from shop owner Hugo who shares with Jamie his alter ego the fabulous and fierce Loco Chanelle!
DOS produce some belter shows and Jamie is no exception, with dazzling dancing, sensational singing, superb acting and a sprinkle of glitter on top this production really shows the range DOS have to offer.
Shout outs to Madison Parkinson with her fantastic portrayal of Pritti and the sweetest purest vocals. “Beautiful” was my favourite performance.
Harrison Bateman as the funny and fierce Jamie is just amazing. For such a young actor he really did command the stage and have everyone’s eyes on him!
Ray and Jamie’s mum Margaret are the perfect comedy duo with voices to die for. Particularly Margaret’s “He’s my boy” performance packed full of emotion. Margaret was played brilliantly by Emma-Louise Dickinson and Ray by Charlotte Sisson.
Leighton Taylor-Jones was a fantastic Hugo/ Loco Chanelle and really did give the part emotion and heart, also teamed with amazing vocals he really did excel in the role.
The duet of Susy Slater and Darrien Wright add ed another dimension to the music during the emotional solo from Jamie’s mum about her old relationship with his dad. Outstanding!
Supporting the stars were a dynamic and innovative chorus who added energy and finesse to this show with their superb talent, so impressed!
The classroom students were animated and engaging from the opening scene which I found really effective in setting the scene.
With some stunning choreography and direction this show absolutely showcases the talent of this amazing company.
We saw the fabulous team Glitter but the other team are also said to be stellar so do catch it when you can!
