Mothers day: how can you make it special during lockdown?

So this Sunday we celebrate mums everywhere and with most events still off limits what can you do to ensure it’s a day well spent?

Beautiful afternoon tea treats from Chateau Bleu brownie bakery

So Mothers day may not be exactly how we would like it to be, but the perfect elements can still be there can’t they: family time, treats, and feeling loved. i’m sure i’m not alone in saying that food and drink plays a huge part in special occasions and with some of our beautiful local businesses this has been made possible. The above amazing spread of treats is from Chateau Bleu brownie bakery and with carrot cake muffins, millionaires shortbread, malteser tiffin and lemon drizzle cake as well as huge scones and all the trimmings I can absolutely say they were stunning.

This box of goodies comes courtesy of the amazing Party liaison company and includes a selection of cheese, crackers, fruit and meats perfect for a Mothers day evening of snacking!

My concrete home is a super cute little page ran by a very talented and crafty lady. The fact that she can turn concrete into these stunning creations that would look great in any home is amazing and I for one, love receiving gifts for the home whether its a candle that smells gorgeous or a plant pot to brighten up proceedings.

The lovely Jen is a wellness coach and as part of her work offers mums a chance to pause, reflect and develop in their own way through online support, a training programme you can follow at your own pace. Jen firmly believes that we need to be proactive when it comes to our mental health. So often people wait until depression, anxiety and stress have a huge impact on their lives before they seek help and make changes and if we spend more time working on our Mindset and Wellbeing as part of our everyday lives, we will be preventing rather than curing.
I think as an alternative to the traditional mother’s day gifts this is a great present to yourself and what greater gift than to get you feeling healthly and raring to go.

Sugar rush alert! These pastel beauties are from Nevaeh’s cakery and would bring a smile to every mum this mothers day! I think its safe to say you could get away with having these for breakfast (we won’t tell anyone!) if you’re not a fan of the traditional bouquet you can have a bouquet of cupcakes instead!

Such a funny way to mark the end of lockdown and say thanks to us mums who are the stay at home heroes! This beauty is from Such designs @emmasuchart and I just think its brilliant! what better way than to have fun with a novelty item and also how many of us now are hoodie addicts!

Chocolate is always the answer, and even better it comes through the post! Potter’s pantry delivered me these absolute monsters this week and believe you me, they tasted just as good as they looked! Brownies and lockdown have really gone hand in hand haven’t they!!! Surprise the one you love with these scrummy bars of joy!

With lockdown restrictions slowly but surely coming to an end some of us are desperate for theatres to re open and my local theatre The Hippodrome is taking bookings for future shows now. Its so important to keep supporting them and I cannot wait to go and see a stage show really soon. For the drama loving mothers out there this is a really great idea! Bring up the curtains people!

I’ve discovered a lovely local clothing brand recently called The life bath. Artist and creator Kelly has designed some truly inspiring and stylish clothing and I will be wearing some on my socials really soon. For the mothers who are all for feminism and female empowerment this brand is for you.

Last of all, if you would like the children to create you a Mothers day art extravaganza check out the lovely Bella Bear’s sand art lair for some great ideas.

I’m Cassie, a mum of 3, (most of the time I haven’t had chance to straighten my hair or drink a hot cup of tea) trying to juggle life as we all are and failing some of the time, but try and see my glass as half full!
