An explosive family production of Around the world in 80 days took to Darlington Hippodrome last night and what a spectacular it was. With a set filled with bright circus colours and the hilarious cast members shining brightly, the traditional story of the Jules Verne classic was given a modern twist to enchant younger audiences. From the curtain up this cast knew how to engage with it’s target viewer and the theatre was packed with school groups who remained engrossed from the start.
A band of travelling explorers embark on their most daring feat yet: to recreate the adventures of Phileas Fogg as he sets off on his race around the world. Fact meets fiction as we learn the incredible true story of Nellie Bly who emulated the character of Phileas in her record-breaking trip.
The drama and hilarity of this bright and cheery theatre piece really does captivate the young and old. We loved learning something new and it’s amazing that only this talented but rather small cast of five were able to tell such an epic tale so well! It really was fantastic.
The show runs from Wednesday March 22-Saturday March 25th so do catch it while you can.
