Oh to be 14 again…a time of boyband obsession, 90’s bubblegum pop and Smash Hits magazine. One can bring this distant dream straight back to reality with Greatest Days the official Take That musical and what an energetic fun offering it was.
Greatest Days combines so many Take That classics you won’t be able to resist clapping along and I bet you’ll remember all the words too!
Take That were always my favourite ever band (Apart from the Hanson deviation at one point but lets not go there shall we!) I was team Howard/Mark and in later life I still follow them and have seen lots of their recent concerts. I think once you have been an obsessive boyband fan you Never forget it do you (!)

The show starts off fun and light hearted and although the sets and lighting sometimes interfered a little, the lovely harmonies of the cast hid it well. There are definitely lots of more serious and gritty events to come though so do bring your tissues! The story line tells of a group of friends in the 90’s navigating the difficulties of teenage life vowing they’ll be best friends forever. Flash forward a few years and this proves not to be the case and they lose touch. Kim Marsh playing Rachel seems stuck in her humdrum life and dreams of the happy times of feeling invincible with her fun loving mates. What would happen if they went back to those greatest days once more?
There are some humorous moments throughout and with amazing vocals from Bayley Hart who played Debbie the show really offers a great nostalgic evening.
Kym Marsh and daughter Emily Cunliffe played good parts and were natural and at ease on stage. Jamie-Rose Monk, Rachel Marwood and Holly Ashton performed hilarious comedy roles of the grown up version of their teenage counterparts and I think they (and Kym)all should star in their own sitcom!
All of the band really did make the ladies scream in the audience and the young teenager cast were full of life and played their parts really well.
